Spring is charming—and seductive too. The sun hasn’t reached its full arc, just as a mystery novel doesn’t give away the full story at once, or a romance keeps us wondering what will happen to the lovers. The sun excites our anticipation of summer. We appreciate the sunny days and wait patiently on the rainy days, knowing that those days too are a part of Vancouver weather. At this time of anticipation and preparation, I ask you to revisit you New Year’s intentions. Re-evaluate your goals and ask what needs to happen for you to continue to move forward.

Revisit your vision story

Back at the beginning of the year, we set our New Year’s intentions. Now we want to take stock of where we are. If you feel you haven’t met your intentions, take heart and let the new season help you reconnect with the plans you made. Nature is bringing change, and you too can tune into that change and get back on track with your goals.

Revisit the vision story or goal sheet you wrote at the beginning of the year. What do you really want? Dance with your dream. Flirt with your spirit. Let your light shine.

If one of your goals was to attract the important relationships in your life, then ask yourself what needs to happen within you to bring those relationships closer. It’s just like planting seeds in the spring. Before you plant, you must till the soil, digging and turning it over to make it ready. With your relationship goals, you must dig out the hurt and prepare yourself for love to enter your heart. Take a deep breath—there is time. Look at your vision. What do you need to be to attract the loving relationships you long for? If, for you, being in a relationship means loving as though you have never been hurt, and opening your heart to receive love from others, then perhaps you need to become the kind of person who trusts love. Not all at once perhaps, but a little each day.

Was it a career goal that you wanted to pursue? Work is love made visible, says Khalil Gibran. Treat your career as you would your beloved. Yes, nurture the seeds. Love the journey. Most of all, love yourself. You are the light that will shine on the earth when you are following your bliss. Don’t let the past fool you into believing that this time it won’t happen. If pursuing your career means that you need to own your brilliance, your greatness, I encourage you to do that now.

Pursue your dreams

I encourage you to pursue your dreams. We need you. This world needs your light. Do not deny us your contribution by playing small. Your ego may want to trap you in the smallness of your story, but your spirit wants to shine. When I started my business, I would listen to my ego when it said, “You are not good enough.” My ego wanted to trap me in my smallness. Now, if I don’t offer my services to a woman who could benefit from them, I feel selfish. Who am I to listen to the voice of my ego and not share my gift when I know my spirit wants to help and I have a gift that can change a life. I encourage you to do the same.

No matter what your story is or where you have been, I guarantee that if you make a commitment to change your life, miracles will help you reach your potential. You don’t have to take a huge leap; take tiny steps to honour your dreams and desires. If you don’t do this for yourself, then do it for others. Do it for the world that wants you to express your music. Do not leave this planet with your music still inside you.

Last of all, don’t do it alone. Ask for support from others—a coach, a friend, a mentor. Find people who will hold you in the highest regard. I cannot stress enough the importance of the collective energy of love and light that comes from others’ beliefs in you and your dreams. All you have to do is be willing to ask and then let yourself receive the support of others.

Open your heart

I have been blessed to meet people at unlikely times who cared about my dreams and wished they would come true. That would not have happened if I hadn’t opened my heart to their wishes. I want you to open your heart to the kindness around you. Change your internal voice so that the external reality can change for you. And, as Deepak Chopra says, “You don’t even need to leave your room; the world will offer itself to you.” Miracles will help you realize your dreams, but you must be open to receiving them.
