Don’t waste time, make money doing the right things

I hope you are having a great August and have enjoyed the summer so far. I had a really great summer. With attending one week-long traditional wedding. Yes, traditional weddings are looooong.

I want to share with you how I plan my summer ahead so that I can have a lot of free time to enjoy, play, and have fun while spending quality time with my children. I plan my summer throughout the year by putting funds aside so that I can take most of the summer off. I also delegate a lot of my work and focus only on coaching my high end platinum clients, an actual high income generating activity for me.

I also have products and other homework I am able to give to my clients during summer months so that they are busy developing the new set of skills in their business while I enjoy my summer with my kids. We are all happy about it. There is always a way to work your business around your life priorities so that you can enjoy abundance of time and money to do what is important.

Here are a few tips on creating an abundant lifestyle while doing what you love and sharing your gifts and talents through your life work. These tips will also help you ease into the busy fall season by taking control of your time and energy by focusing on the right things.

Say ‘Yes’ To What’s Coming by saying ‘No,’ first

Two things women entrepreneurs struggle with is prioritizing their time and focusing on income producing activities. To make the most of your time, it is important to channel your energy in a way that naturally allows you to say ‘yes’ to what is important in your business. If you don’t consciously become aware of your time, then outside distractions will bog down your energy. It becomes difficult to say ‘no’ to what you don’t want, and ‘yes’ to what you do want.

Take Control of Your Day

If you don’t have an assistant to respond to your emails, then don’t turn on your computer first thing in the morning. Plan a 30 minute mini retreat where you can determine your most important projects for the day. Do this outside of your office. That way you can come to your office knowing the most important tasks (that hold the most energy for you). This makes it easier to resist the pull of emails and outside demands. Your mini retreat allows you to create laser focused priorities so that you can easily say ‘no’ to what you don’t want, and ‘yes’ to what you do want. 

Avoid Shiny Object Syndrome

It can be very tempting to subscribe to the free emails coming from the successful people in your industry, and then get carried away reading them. Unless you need their specific advice based on where you are in your business, unsubscribe. Check in with yourself intuitively by going inwards to see who you need to follow, and then surrender to getting the full benefit of their knowledge. Do not waste your time with ‘shiny objects’. Instead focus on the income generating activities for your particular business and the stage you are in your business. Your time will be productive and you will find ease in everything you do if you are not focused outwards.

Focus On Joy

Do the activities that bring you joy and delegate the ones you don’t like to your team. Having free time will allow you to tap into your creativity. If you are at the beginning stages of your business, and feel that you cannot afford to hire help, start small with just a few hours a month and build your way up. The most important thing is to get used to the experience of receiving help and letting go.

Remember, success is not about adding on, it is about letting go of what you don’t want so that you can say ‘yes’ to what you do want.

Money Cannot Come To An Angry Heart

When we are in a heart centered business we need to generate income sharing our heart gifts. However if our heart is bleeding and there is hurt around money experiences, it is very difficult to make a good income doing what we love.

20 years ago, after finally divorcing my ex-husband who was physically abusive, I migrated to Canada leaving my family behind in England, with no money and my family closed all the doors on me as divorce wasn’t acceptable in our family system.

I wasn’t raised in a poor family. My family had lots of money, but they were not willing to share it with me if I didn’t follow their rules.

After my relationship with my family didn’t work, I decided I didn’t like rich people. I was certain that people with money had no values and didn’t care for each other. I was also sure money was a trap rich people used to get people to do what they wanted. After all, that was my experience with my family. Their love was very conditional. All of these thoughts and decisions were not conscious, they were hidden deep down in my subconscious.

When I found myself in a situation where I was making less money than my expenses, being in a long distance relationship, and not being clear on my career path, I hit rock bottom.

It forced me to look inwards and change my beliefs around rich people and money. Since my relationship wounds happened in relationship with other people, I had to heal my relationship with other people in relation to money.

I totally believe we don’t create money issues alone, nor can we heal them in isolation. Anger wastes a lot of energy. It keeps us in conflict and in judgement of the very thing we want. Resolving our anger in relationship with money is the key to be completely free of money issues.

To grow in business, we need to colloborate with others, and our money issues will show up if they are not healed. They can show up in asking for money from our clients, charging for our value as well as trusting to pay others for the services we receive from them. (We do need to hire people in order to have more time to work at what we are good at and expand our horizon.) Broken trust shows up everywhere until it is healed, transformed and dealt with, in business and in life.

After doing my own money work and seeing my life and business flourish beyond my imagination, or I should say aligned with my imagination :), I see my clients receive miraculous results after they do inner money work.

We need money to be totally free and have more choices in life. We really cannot express our love for humanity unless we have our own money issues resolved. I work with a lot of healers and when they first come to work with me, I see that the same wounds that caused them to become a healer also stop them from charging their worth. I understand their intention, I acknowledge they want to help. I also see the gift of sensitivity they have because of their wounds, only after they start to charge fairly for their life work, their true light returns. They see their value and the ripple effect of asking for their value and getting what they are worth creates a shift that is lasting and is truly gratifying and an abundant experience for me to witness.

Remember, we cannot give to others what we don’t have. If we want to give charity or make a difference for people around the world, writing a cheque helps. There are other means of giving too like giving of our time. However, even if we cannot physically go to Africa, we can still contribute by donating money.

I would invite you to take a look at your life where you had hurtful money experiences and how they are affecting your ability to manifest abundance today.

Money Energy Leaks

Last week, I taught a workshop on healing one’s relationship with money at a group called the 10 Hour Work Week. This group is based on Tim Ferriss’ book The 4 Hour Work Week. What an amazing group of people that attended. Below is some information from a handout we worked through during the workshop.

To create abundance of income in your heart-centered business, you must pay attention to your ‘money energy leaks’. Look at the following descriptions below to find out what your ‘money energy leak’ is. What is the underlying belief that drives the leak, and what do you need to do to heal that leak so that you too can make the income you deserve?

Which one of the following may be true for you?

1) Time Energy Boundaries: Giving too much time You give away your precious time and energy because you are afraid of saying ‘no.’

Belief accompanied is: I am not providing enough value so I should give more time. The issue: Lack of Value. You are not in touch with the benefits of your work.

Solution: Create packages; sell benefits instead of charging dollar per hour.

Write down how you would like to spend your time. What are the things you absolutely love to do in your business? Who are the clients you love to work with? Give away anything you don’t love to do, and let go of clients you don’t enjoy working with to make room for the new.

2) Money Energy Boundaries: Charging too little

Belief accompanied by it: That there is not enough to go around. People don’t have enough so you try to rescue the world before filling up your own tank. Issue: Coming from lack instead of abundance. Not seeing others as resourceful, capable to pay you.

Solution: Make a decision on what kind of lifestyle you would you like to enjoy. How much money do you need to create the lifestyle that honors who you are? Don’t compromise your time. Charge what your time is worth to create the life you want.

Get in touch with your needs; how much you need to make in what amount of time.

3) Self-Love Energy Boundaries: Negative self-chatter is another way you zap yourself out of your precious time and energy. If someone doesn’t buy your product or services, you take rejection personally and beat yourself up over it, in your head, and your heart. This stops you from moving forward.

Belief accompanied by it: Lack of self-love, lack of self-worth.

Solution: Make a list of all the results you have gotten and accomplishments you had made from working with your previous clients or at your current career. Carry that list with you, and whenever you need to get in touch with your value, refer back to that list.

Pay attention to how you talk to yourself.  Reward yourself, not only for results, but for effort made.

Stepping Big In Your Own Life Is the Best Way to Help Others

I feel such gratitude as I look at my life and how it has changed over the years. Recognizing all that I have, I often want to help other women who don’t have as many resources.

One day, when I was sitting at my computer thinking about how I could possibly make a bigger impact, I came across a story of a woman who was given a micro loan from a woman in the west. The woman being helped didn’t have a formal education, but she bought a cow, and started selling milk in the village to earn a living. With her perseverance and commitment to succeed, she was not only able to pay back the loan she was given, but she also saved money to buy another cow. And pretty soon, she had a herd.

I was touched reading the story. And happy to know that given a small opportunity and belief, women can change their own destinies. I realized that we can help these women by shining our own light. By claiming our share from the world! By expressing our talents and sharing our unique gifts. The only way to help another woman is to step up and live your dreams.

When we live our dreams, we not only give ourselves a chance to grow and succeed, but we also become leaders, role models and an example for others to step up. In living our dreams, we give others permission to live out theirs. I felt at peace knowing all I need to do is believe in these women’s abilities to be resourceful, and I need to support them by being a role model in manifesting my own dreams.

What confirmed my belief even further was when I learnt about the Hundredth Monkey Effect, a testament to the energetic impact we have on each other. As part of the research of this phenomenon, it was found that when a certain number of monkeys (supposedly a hundred) in Japan were performing a new act, this learned behavior instantly spread across to monkeys in other areas.

The monkeys picked up on a vibration that was so far away in distance from them, but was powerful enough that they were still able to imitate the behavior from the first group of monkeys. The two groups were not in physical contact with each other and could not see each other, yet they had an impact on one another.

What this means in terms of the ‘law of attraction’ is that by changing our vibration, we energetically affect others on the planet. We can collectively make a huge difference by living our brilliance and shining our light. And this, in turn, has an influence on others.

A woman feeling fearful of starting a business in a third world country can overcome her fear by tapping into the universal energies of strength and courage. We can help her tap into the energy of strength and courage by overcoming our own fears and vibrating at the higher frequency of love and faith rather than fear.

I would encourage you to pick up a dream you are afraid to believe in and think again. If you can go after it, work to realize it, you are impacting not only the course of your life but also those of others as well.

If, like myself, you also believe in the power of the one Universe, then you know that by overcoming your obstacles, claiming your value and charging what you are worth you support woman all over the world. All you need to do is increase your vibration, live your dreams and women all over the world will pick up on it.

  • Are you ready to claim your big self?
  • Are you ready to step into your dreams?

Remember God wouldn’t give you a desire without having a means to achieve it.

Why Create A Free Product?

I remember a conversation I had with another business coach who shared with me that people don’t buy products, people buy people. This is so true. What she meant was that we buy from people whom we like, know and trust.

How does one build trust? How does one connect with wider audiences in the world of the internet and take advantage of reaching people globally to sell their services and products?

In one of my previous newsletters, I shared some basics tips about getting started on-line to sell your services. To read it, click here.

In today’s newsletter, I am going to take this one step further, and teach you how to build relationships with these viewers and how to ask your web visitors to subscribe to your newsletters.

The key is to give your viewers a taste of your services by creating a free product by which you would share your expertise. Just asking people to subscribe to your newsletter is not enough anymore. You need to give them some incentive to subscribe to your updates.

Do not hesitate to provide the best value in your free product. Remember, if you provide great value, and people experience your brilliant work via a free product, you are building a lasting relationship with them. They will then want to continue to receive further updates from you. Eventually, they will become your clients, and you can continue to serve them by providing great value at different price points, starting with the free product on your website.

What to consider when creating your free product:  

  • Which problems are you trying to solve with your free product?
  • What change could the free product bring about in the potential client if she reads, listens to, or works through the exercises provided in it?
  • Think of short term benefits the person could immediately receive if they applied the ideas in your free product.
  • You can include stories and examples from your current clients’ experiences (Remember to always ask your clients’ permission first, especially if you are using their real names).
  • You can also add testimonials or bio information on the last page.
  • Include an action step that the potential client can take to benefit from what you have shared in your free product.

Lastly, make sure to use an enticing title for your free product; a result-oriented title, preferably with a deadline. For example:

  • How to fill your workshop in the next 30 days.
  • How to get your first 3 clients even if you are new to the business.
  • How to make more money and work less.

Ideas for a free product:

Your free product does not have to be a lengthy book, especially if you are not a writer. It could be:

  • An audio recording
  • A video recording
  • An inspiring interview
  • A report
  • A check list
  • An exercise booklet with questions and fill-in-the-blank answers

Ideas are endless; so are possibilities. Start with where you are now, and let the world respond to you so that you can shine your brilliance one step at a time.

Do You Want To Reach Bigger Audiences?

If you want to create great income, and make a big impact, you need to learn how to reach a large number of people in your business. To reach people globally, however, it is very important to take advantage of online modes of communication. With so much information out there about social media and others avenues for reaching people online, however, where does one start? Start with where you are.

To reach people on line, firstly, make a decision to produce a newsletter. You need some kind of data base system to send newsletters. I personally use Shopping Cart as it allows me to create a list that I can add to. This makes it easier to systemize information.

You would need to get a template created before sending a newsletter. Once the template is saved and created, either yourself or your assistant can send the newsletter. You would start with the contact list that you already have. This could consist of the people in your close circle or people you meet at networking events. You would then build your list as you grow.

Social media is another one of the biggest venue to build on-line community of your followers. It helps build relationships and gear people towards signing up for your newsletters. I generally send out my newsletter and then also have my team put my newsletter on my blog and connect it to Facebook and Twitter.

The newsletter gets sent to people who have willingly subscribed to the list, and my team connects the blog to social media for soft selling. No pressure, no push. If they like the content, they subscribe to the newsletter by clicking on the link to the blog. There is subscription information on the blog as well, and we also include a link to the website. This allows readers to download free products on the website to get the knowledge they need to move forward.

Remember, you don’t need a 7 pages website to start producing a newsletter. You can start with just one page with an offer to invite people to subscribe to your newsletter. To make your invitation enticing, you would need to create a product that solves a problem your clients are currently experiencing.

Creating that product need not to take a long time. You can audio tape it, or create an interview with a friend, as long as the product gives people a taste of what you do. It should also help build a relationship with you and the readers, to allow them greater interest in what you offer. It is a great entry point for these individuals into your world.

I would suggest making a decision to take the first step and act on at least one of the above ideas. Explore reaching out to your clients using a mode of communication that is new to you. Think globally!

How To Create Abundance When There Is Only 1 Of You And Only 24 Hours In A Day

Spring is a time for letting go of the old and making space for the new.  But even when we are ready to allow new opportunities to enter, it can often seem overwhelming to find the time to achieve our goals, especially considering that there is only one of us, and so many things to get done. I am here to tell you it is possible to create abundance of income without compromising the time you spend with friends, family, and your responsibilities as a business owner.

How can this be achieved? – By serving your clients in multiple ways.

One way to serve your clients is to create products from which they can attain tips. This enables you to serve a large number of people who may not be able to afford a higher level of your service at that time. But by exposing them to your products, you allow them to get to know the quality of your work, before they invest in a more in depth program with you. 

Another way to serve your clients is to provide group coaching programs. These programs can be taught via teleclass on a conference line where 5 or more people join in to learn about your expertise and services. The sessions can range anywhere from around $300 per person to $5000 for high end programs that include in-person retreats. Stay tuned for a group coaching program opening up soon…

Another income source could be private one-on-one coaching for selective people who want to experience your services one-on-one. You can create different packages for various levels of support according to the individual needs of each client. You could offer V.I.P coaching days, or for quick support you could also create one session in which clients can sample your services while resolving a most pressing need in their business. This could, and very often does, lead to future rewards for your business and for the client as well. Another option is to create longer term packages for those wanting to commit to a 4-6 month period.

The last tip is not to charge by dollar per hour. Think like an entrepreneur and charge for the value your clients receive compared to the hours they work with you. I had a client who cut her working time to one-third of what it had been previously, and she tripled her income. Imagine the value of what she received by changing her business model, and how much revenue she would continue to generate with this approach.

 All of this may seem difficult to do when there is just one person – you – involved in creating these spaces and opportunities and services. But there is more than just you if you change your approach. Rather than taking on all the tasks yourself, hiring support and delegating to others the responsibilities that you don’t like to do, or don’t need to do in your business, can be very productive, for everyone involved. I will be providing more details on ‘creating support’ in an upcoming article.

Finally, remember that you can also share your services via free ezines, teleclasses and workshops in order to make your products known and allow yourself to serve more clients.

How Do You Let Your Money Energy ‘Leak’?

For heart-centered female entrepreneurs, our ability to make money, and how much we think we deserve to earn, is connected to our heart when we are in the business of changing lives. In fact, love and money issues are strongly connected for female heart-centered entrepreneurs (I will be covering this further in my private 4 hour personal retreat program Abundant Money Retreat opening up in April.

To create abundance of income in your heart-centered business, you must pay attention to your ‘money energy leaks’.

Here are a few common ways you may let your money energy ‘leak’:

1)  You give away your precious time and energy because you are afraid of saying ‘no.’ This occurs in business when you offer too much of your time for a very low price. Giving away your time for less than is deserved not only diminishes your own value, but it also diminishes that of your clients.  Consequently, no one is then able to claim the true limitless abundance that is available.

2)  You don’t set clear boundaries. When others don’t respect your boundaries, and you don’t take a stand for yourself, you let your money energy ‘leak’.  And this, in turn, makes you feel less valued and less respected.  This can lead you to be scared of shining larger; so instead, you settle for staying safe and small.

3)  Negative self-chatter is another way you zap yourself out of your precious time and energy. If someone doesn’t buy your product or services, you take rejection personally and beat yourself up over it, in your head, and your heart.  This prevents you from moving forward. Instead of patting yourself on the back for your accomplishments and getting help where you need to, you assume the rejection is a reflection of you as a person. This is not so. And it is important to recognize this.

You are in the business of changing lives and you need to pay attention to how you let your money energy ‘leak’.  When you devalue yourself, you keep yourself trapped and stifled. But when you are aware of how to avoid ‘money energy leaks’, and take the time to pursue your talents, you are free to achieve endless outcomes such as:

  • Writing your book
  • Launching a new product or program
  • Traveling
  • Making abundance of income 

Here are a few ways you can start to take care of your money energy ‘leaks’ right away:

1)   Write down how you would like to spend your time. What are the things you absolutely love to do in your business?  Who are the clients you love to work with?  Give away anything you don’t love to do, and let go of clients you don’t enjoy working with to make room for the new.
