Don’t waste time, make money doing the right things

I hope you are having a great August and have enjoyed the summer so far. I had a really great summer. With attending one week-long traditional wedding. Yes, traditional weddings are looooong.

Here is a photograph of mine from the wedding with a friend, all dressed up.

august newsletter

I want to share with you how I plan my summer ahead so that I can have a lot of free time to enjoy, play, and have fun while spending quality time with my children. I plan my summer throughout the year by putting funds aside so that I can take most of the summer off. I also delegate a lot of my work and focus only on coaching my high end platinum clients, an actual high income generating activity for me.

I also have products and other homework I am able to give to my clients during summer months so that they are busy developing the new set of skills in their business while I enjoy my summer with my kids. We are all happy about it. There is always a way to work your business around your life priorities so that you can enjoy abundance of time and money to do what is important.

Here are a few tips on creating an abundant lifestyle while doing what you love and sharing your gifts and talents through your life work. These tips will also help you ease into the busy fall season by taking control of your time and energy by focusing on the right things.

Say ‘Yes’ To What’s Coming by saying ‘No,’ first

Two things women entrepreneurs struggle with is prioritizing their time and focusing on income producing activities. To make the most of your time, it is important to channel your energy in a way that naturally allows you to say ‘yes’ to what is important in your business. If you don’t consciously become aware of your time, then outside distractions will bog down your energy. It becomes difficult to say ‘no’ to what you don’t want, and ‘yes’ to what you do want.

Take Control of Your Day

If you don’t have an assistant to respond to your emails, then don’t turn on your computer first thing in the morning. Plan a 30 minute mini retreat where you can determine your most important projects for the day. Do this outside of your office. That way you can come to your office knowing the most important tasks (that hold the most energy for you). This makes it easier to resist the pull of emails and outside demands. Your mini retreat allows you to create laser focused priorities so that you can easily say ‘no’ to what you don’t want, and ‘yes’ to what you do want.

Avoid Shiny Object Syndrome

It can be very tempting to subscribe to the free emails coming from the successful people in your industry, and then get carried away reading them. Unless you need their specific advice based on where you are in your business, unsubscribe. Check in with yourself intuitively by going inwards to see who you need to follow, and then surrender to getting the full benefit of their knowledge. Do not waste your time with ‘shiny objects’. Instead focus on the income generating activities for your particular business and the stage you are in your business. Your time will be productive and you will find ease in everything you do if you are not focused outwards.

Focus On Joy

Do the activities that bring you joy and delegate the ones you don’t like to your team. Having free time will allow you to tap into your creativity. If you are at the beginning stages of your business, and feel that you cannot afford to hire help, start small with just a few hours a month and build your way up. The most important thing is to get used to the experience of receiving help and letting go.

Remember, success is not about adding on, it is about letting go of what you don’t want so that you can say ‘yes’ to what you do want.

Money Cannot Come To An Angry Heart

Money, Abundance, Business,

Money, Abundance, Business,

When we are in a heart centered business we need to generate income sharing our heart gifts. However if our heart is bleeding and there is hurt around money experiences, it is very difficult to make a good income doing what we love.

20 years ago, after finally divorcing my ex-husband who was physically abusive, I migrated to Canada leaving my family behind in England, with no money and my family closed all the doors on me as divorce wasn’t acceptable in our family system.

I wasn’t raised in a poor family. My family had lots of money, but they were not willing to share it with me if I didn’t follow their rules.

After my relationship with my family didn’t work, I decided I didn’t like rich people. I was certain that people with money had no values and didn’t care for each other. I was also sure money was a trap rich people used to get people to do what they wanted. After all, that was my experience with my family. Their love was very conditional. All of these thoughts and decisions were not conscious, they were hidden deep down in my subconscious.

When I found myself in a situation where I was making less money than my expenses, being in a long distance relationship, and not being clear on my career path, I hit rock bottom.

It forced me to look inwards and change my beliefs around rich people and money. Since my relationship wounds happened in relationship with other people, I had to heal my relationship with other people in relation to money.

I totally believe we don’t create money issues alone, nor can we heal them in isolation. Anger wastes a lot of energy. It keeps us in conflict and in judgement of the very thing we want. Resolving our anger in relationship with money is the key to be completely free of money issues.

To grow in business, we need to colloborate with others, and our money issues will show up if they are not healed. They can show up in asking for money from our clients, charging for our value as well as trusting to pay others for the services we receive from them. (We do need to hire people in order to have more time to work at what we are good at and expand our horizon.) Broken trust shows up everywhere until it is healed, transformed and dealt with, in business and in life.

After doing my own money work and seeing my life and business flourish beyond my imagination, or I should say aligned with my imagination :), I see my clients receive miraculous results after they do inner money work.

We need money to be totally free and have more choices in life. We really cannot express our love for humanity unless we have our own money issues resolved. I work with a lot of healers and when they first come to work with me, I see that the same wounds that caused them to become a healer also stop them from charging their worth. I understand their intention, I acknowledge they want to help. I also see the gift of sensitivity they have because of their wounds, only after they start to charge fairly for their life work, their true light returns. They see their value and the ripple effect of asking for their value and getting what they are worth creates a shift that is lasting and is truly gratifying and an abundant experience for me to witness.

Remember, we cannot give to others what we don’t have. If we want to give charity or make a difference for people around the world, writing a cheque helps. There are other means of giving too like giving of our time. However, even if we cannot physically go to Africa, we can still contribute by donating money.

I would invite you to take a look at your life where you had hurtful money experiences and how they are affecting your ability to manifest abundance today.

Create an Abundant Business Through the Power of Gratitude

As Holistic Business Owners, we often have our own healing journey that sets us on a path to help others. However, until we find the gifts in our own story, and feel grateful for our own challenges, it is difficult to help others overcome their challenges.

Watch this video to learn how you can use the power of gratitude to help you transform your pain and create an abundant business and life!

Tap Into Your Intuition To Make More Money

As female business owners, we are blessed with the gift of intuition.  It is very important to connect with your intuition before making business decisions. However, if you are running from activity to activity, you have little time to rest and tune into your body’s wisdom.  Connecting with your intuition will not only allow you to make better business decisions, but it will also help you attract more opportunities, and in turn, allow you to make more money.

Here are few simple steps to tuning into your intuition:

Take Naps When You Need Them

Resting and sleeping sharpens your ability to tune in and listen to the messages that are being sent to you divinely.  If you are feeling really tired, sleep on it.  I mean literally, take a nap, and then visit your intention to make a decision.  After a good nap, your mind will be much sharper and clearer to make a decision.  You might even get an answer to your question via email or another venue while you are sleeping and trusting the universe to work through your decisions.

Do Easy Meditative Activities

If you are the kind of person who can meditate, great!  If you cannot, just do something that relaxes your busy mind so you are not thinking about your business at that time.  It could be a walk, strolling around a craft store, or just being in the house puttering, drinking tea, or visiting with girlfriends painting nails, trying on clothes.  Whatever brings you to your body and gives you a sense of ease is good to put you into your creative, meditative mode.  This will allow you to receive ideas and inspiration from your intuitive side.

Pay Attention To Your Energy

Always listen to which direction your energy is flowing.  Are you feeling inclined to write your newsletters, or is your energy moving towards producing videos?  Plan your marketing activities around your passionate energy so that you spread your activities in a way that produces, rather than depletes, energy for you.  Discuss with a good business coach how your natural abilities can help you market your business effortlessly.

Money Energy Leaks

Last week, I taught a workshop on healing one’s relationship with money at a group called the 10 Hour Work Week. This group is based on Tim Ferriss’ book The 4 Hour Work Week. What an amazing group of people that attended. Below is some information from a handout we worked through during the workshop.

To create abundance of income in your heart-centered business, you must pay attention to your ‘money energy leaks’. Look at the following descriptions below to find out what your ‘money energy leak’ is. What is the underlying belief that drives the leak, and what do you need to do to heal that leak so that you too can make the income you deserve?

Which one of the following may be true for you?

1) Time Energy Boundaries: Giving too much time You give away your precious time and energy because you are afraid of saying ‘no.’

Belief accompanied is: I am not providing enough value so I should give more time. The issue: Lack of Value. You are not in touch with the benefits of your work.

Solution: Create packages; sell benefits instead of charging dollar per hour.

Write down how you would like to spend your time. What are the things you absolutely love to do in your business? Who are the clients you love to work with? Give away anything you don’t love to do, and let go of clients you don’t enjoy working with to make room for the new.

2) Money Energy Boundaries: Charging too little

Belief accompanied by it: That there is not enough to go around. People don’t have enough so you try to rescue the world before filling up your own tank. Issue: Coming from lack instead of abundance. Not seeing others as resourceful, capable to pay you.

Solution: Make a decision on what kind of lifestyle you would you like to enjoy. How much money do you need to create the lifestyle that honors who you are? Don’t compromise your time. Charge what your time is worth to create the life you want.

Get in touch with your needs; how much you need to make in what amount of time.

3) Self-Love Energy Boundaries: Negative self-chatter is another way you zap yourself out of your precious time and energy. If someone doesn’t buy your product or services, you take rejection personally and beat yourself up over it, in your head, and your heart. This stops you from moving forward.

Belief accompanied by it: Lack of self-love, lack of self-worth.

Solution: Make a list of all the results you have gotten and accomplishments you had made from working with your previous clients or at your current career. Carry that list with you, and whenever you need to get in touch with your value, refer back to that list.

Pay attention to how you talk to yourself.  Reward yourself, not only for results, but for effort made.

Money Allows Women To Be In Their Personal Power

Historically, we have seen people in authority as well as religious institutions use money to exercise power in negative ways. As a result, some of us unconsciously fear that having money will somehow make us the ‘bad guy’, or we judge rich people, assuming they are ‘bad’.

It would be difficult to attract money if we associate negative images and experiences to it. It is crucial, therefore, that we have a positive definition of money and are able to see how it can serve us better. Money enables us to be in our personal power and act from a place of personal authority.

Money allows us to express ourselves authentically. We are not dependant on anyone else when we have money, and the need to please others due to fear of losing their support isn’t there. We can live in inter-dependant relationships trusting that we can exercise our personal power with authenticity, grace, and integrity without fear of displeasing others.

Here are three ways money can allow women to be in their personal power:

1. When a woman is in survival mode and dependent on other people for her living, it is very difficult to listen to the voice of her soul. It is even harder to draw boundaries in relationships that may not be honoring her for who she is. Being financially independent offers the woman the choice of saying ‘no’ to what isn’t serving her.

2. If you see yourself as an agent of change, someone able to make great changes, you can influence many decisions in areas of authority such as politics and other public and social arenas involving money. If you are a good person with great causes, it is important, therefore, that you see the value of money and how it can allow you to act on your internal beliefs and convictions to exercise change in causes you care about.

3. Money allows you to take better care of yourself, and you are able listen to your personal voice as you are rested, relaxed and not worried about providing for yourself.

When we are in touch with our personal values, we don’t need to fear that we will use money in a negative way. Consequently, we need to stop worrying that money will somehow turn us into a ‘bad guy’.

I am asking you to trust yourself to use money your way. You are going to serve even more people and causes when you have more money. It will allow you to be more generous when you have more.

Detach the idea of money from your thoughts of people who have misused it, and instead, visualize it wanting to come to you, to comfort you, to support you and allow you to become the powerful woman you are meant to be- powerful in your feminine, graceful and brilliant way!

Not Making the Income You Would Like to Make is Keeping You From Shining

Most heart-centered entrepreneurs start their business because it is close to their heart and so they love it. At the beginning, they are not hugely concerned about making profit as they are focused on expressing their passion. It is a great place to start; however, if you continue to ignore ‘money,’ you are not sending a clear message to the Universe that you have a right to receive abundance for your heart work.

Here are 3 tips on implementing changes to your mindset around making money. They will help you in your business so that you can create all the income you need, to enjoy the lifestyle your business should be providing for you.

Remember, Abundance Is Your Birthright

God created this planet abundantly. The moon, the stars, the galaxy- everything is evidence of abundance. Why would He want us to experience anything different when it comes to enjoying a great lifestyle? Be it exotic vacations with your kids, enjoying delicious, authentic cuisines, or dressing up in the clothes you like to wear, all is part of expressing your God-given abundance, beauty and feminity. Your business is a vehicle for you to create this abundance by serving others with your gifts. Money is evidence of how well, and how much, you are serving others.  It is also a token of appreciation for that service.

You Are Not Taking Away from Anyone

A lot of us raised on comparison thinking still feel that if we start to take a bigger share from the world, somehow, we are taking away from somebody else. This is thinking from the point of view of ‘lack.’ The Universe has enough for all of us. The limit is in our thinking. There are stories after stories of businesses that have tripled their income in this economy as they chose not to listen to the economical news, but created abundance from the source.

Your Playing Small Doesn’t Serve Anyone

If you don’t take your share from the world, you are not adding to the abundance of the world. By stepping up, you are setting up an example for everyone to witness what is possible. You are giving others a chance to be inspired and tap into their own abundance and miracles by watching yours.

Marianne Williamson expresses this idea beautifully in her quote:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Is Fear of Losing Relationships Holding You Back From Making Income?

As a coach of female entrepreneurs, I am well aware that the relationship women have with money is different from that of men. Men are generally motivated by the energy of providing; whereas, women have a greater desire to serve and make a difference through their life work. There are, of course, situations where women (single moms, for example) sometimes play both roles: they are providers as well as the ones who share gifts through their life work.

Women also hold different fears around success than men do. Community builders at heart, many women fear how the success of their businesses may change their relationship with those close to them.

The fear of being disliked by others, along with the fear of outgrowing their partners, keeps women away from climbing the ladder of success.  Anything we are afraid of and don’t acknowledge or face can keep success away from us.

I am here to tell you that it is a normal and universal fear for women to want to keep the family together, even if sometimes, this is at the expense of their own growth. Acknowledging this fear is okay; letting it hold you back isn’t.

The soul that is wanting to express itself doesn’t find peace without full expression. Therefore, sabotaging the desires of our soul due to the fear of losing our important relationships is not right.

The voice of the soul doesn’t stop. It keeps urging us to step up, claim the value of our work, and shine our light. The nagging sense of something needing to be expressed keeps knocking at our doors.

So what is a woman to do? Trust. Trust your heart to know that yes, more success will change the way you do things, but it doesn’t have to break apart your important relationships. You don’t have to hold yourself back due to the fear of losing relationships. If anything, after the initial hiccups of others getting used to the change, your relationships may actually improve. Because when we change, others around us often change, generally for the better in the long run. And this can actually be a positive move towards growth for all those involved. You may even decide to challenge that with which you are not satisfied, because with greater financial freedom comes greater choices and wider boundaries.

Remember, success is a process, so it is going to involve major changes in our lives and therefore, our relationships. But you need to trust in yourself, and find a good coach who will help you navigate through the changes as they come along. Know that you will always obtain more than you imagined when you follow your soul’s desires. This, in turn, will help you to make great decisions for the souls of those around you as well, and will hopefully inspire others to do the same.

What Does Your Love Life Have to Do With Making More Money?

Did you know that money and love issues are connected for women? Being unaware of our money issues can keep abundance away from us. We, as women, are heart-centered, and if our heart isn’t happy, it is not only difficult to make money, but it is even harder to hang on to the money we make.

For our hearts to be happy, and in order to feel love for who we are and what we do, we need to start with ourselves; self-love, that is. We need to pay attention to when we first learnt what love is in the family we grew up in, and how this and the family’s issues can unconsciously affect our ability to receive wealth.

Here are a few tips on paying attention to the issues of money in the family:

Think about…

Who Was The Breadwinner In The Family?

What role did they play in your life? How did the women in the family feel about receiving wealth? How did the men feel about sharing wealth? Whose role did you admire?

When Did You Make The Decision To Be Financially Independent?

When did you decide to become a career woman? Was it a happy choice or was it made because someone decided not to support you? -an ex-husband, father, etc. What impact did it have on you?

How Were The Resources Distributed In The Family?

If the resources distributed in the family were not distributed fairly amongst siblings or other members of the family, it can affect the one who did not receive as much, as well as the one who ‘over received’. The ‘under receiver’ can often continue to be loyal to the family by still playing low- making less, or having a lower self esteem.  And the over achiever can create more- more money or show more confidence- at the expense of the under receiver, and then feeling guilty about this.

Although we cannot change our family, we can become aware of the role we played in our family when it came to the distribution of resources, including love and money, and change it now. Gender issues in the family can also affect the ability to receive and give money.

Pay attention to some of the above issues in your individual family. There will be more coming in future workshops in the summer about your family’s place in the larger economic world.  In the meantime, I would encourage you to consider the following questions before the workshops:

Have you now dealt with how you make and deal with money without being affected by past family issues?

Do you allow yourself to use the money you make for fun experiences, or do you feel burdened with a sense of overwhelming responsibility with your finances?

A Strong Woman Versus A Woman Of Strength

A strong woman works out everyday to keep her body in shape…
But a woman of strength builds relationships to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn’t afraid of anything…
But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear.

A strong woman won’t let anyone get the better of her…
But a woman of strength gives the best of herself to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future…
A woman of strength realises life’s mistakes can also be unexpected blessings, and capitalises on them.

A strong woman wears a look of confidence on her face…
But a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey…
But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.
