Don’t waste time, make money doing the right things

I hope you are having a great August and have enjoyed the summer so far. I had a really great summer. With attending one week-long traditional wedding. Yes, traditional weddings are looooong.

I want to share with you how I plan my summer ahead so that I can have a lot of free time to enjoy, play, and have fun while spending quality time with my children. I plan my summer throughout the year by putting funds aside so that I can take most of the summer off. I also delegate a lot of my work and focus only on coaching my high end platinum clients, an actual high income generating activity for me.

I also have products and other homework I am able to give to my clients during summer months so that they are busy developing the new set of skills in their business while I enjoy my summer with my kids. We are all happy about it. There is always a way to work your business around your life priorities so that you can enjoy abundance of time and money to do what is important.

Here are a few tips on creating an abundant lifestyle while doing what you love and sharing your gifts and talents through your life work. These tips will also help you ease into the busy fall season by taking control of your time and energy by focusing on the right things.

Say ‘Yes’ To What’s Coming by saying ‘No,’ first

Two things women entrepreneurs struggle with is prioritizing their time and focusing on income producing activities. To make the most of your time, it is important to channel your energy in a way that naturally allows you to say ‘yes’ to what is important in your business. If you don’t consciously become aware of your time, then outside distractions will bog down your energy. It becomes difficult to say ‘no’ to what you don’t want, and ‘yes’ to what you do want.

Take Control of Your Day

If you don’t have an assistant to respond to your emails, then don’t turn on your computer first thing in the morning. Plan a 30 minute mini retreat where you can determine your most important projects for the day. Do this outside of your office. That way you can come to your office knowing the most important tasks (that hold the most energy for you). This makes it easier to resist the pull of emails and outside demands. Your mini retreat allows you to create laser focused priorities so that you can easily say ‘no’ to what you don’t want, and ‘yes’ to what you do want. 

Avoid Shiny Object Syndrome

It can be very tempting to subscribe to the free emails coming from the successful people in your industry, and then get carried away reading them. Unless you need their specific advice based on where you are in your business, unsubscribe. Check in with yourself intuitively by going inwards to see who you need to follow, and then surrender to getting the full benefit of their knowledge. Do not waste your time with ‘shiny objects’. Instead focus on the income generating activities for your particular business and the stage you are in your business. Your time will be productive and you will find ease in everything you do if you are not focused outwards.

Focus On Joy

Do the activities that bring you joy and delegate the ones you don’t like to your team. Having free time will allow you to tap into your creativity. If you are at the beginning stages of your business, and feel that you cannot afford to hire help, start small with just a few hours a month and build your way up. The most important thing is to get used to the experience of receiving help and letting go.

Remember, success is not about adding on, it is about letting go of what you don’t want so that you can say ‘yes’ to what you do want.

Money Cannot Come To An Angry Heart

When we are in a heart centered business we need to generate income sharing our heart gifts. However if our heart is bleeding and there is hurt around money experiences, it is very difficult to make a good income doing what we love.

20 years ago, after finally divorcing my ex-husband who was physically abusive, I migrated to Canada leaving my family behind in England, with no money and my family closed all the doors on me as divorce wasn’t acceptable in our family system.

I wasn’t raised in a poor family. My family had lots of money, but they were not willing to share it with me if I didn’t follow their rules.

After my relationship with my family didn’t work, I decided I didn’t like rich people. I was certain that people with money had no values and didn’t care for each other. I was also sure money was a trap rich people used to get people to do what they wanted. After all, that was my experience with my family. Their love was very conditional. All of these thoughts and decisions were not conscious, they were hidden deep down in my subconscious.

When I found myself in a situation where I was making less money than my expenses, being in a long distance relationship, and not being clear on my career path, I hit rock bottom.

It forced me to look inwards and change my beliefs around rich people and money. Since my relationship wounds happened in relationship with other people, I had to heal my relationship with other people in relation to money.

I totally believe we don’t create money issues alone, nor can we heal them in isolation. Anger wastes a lot of energy. It keeps us in conflict and in judgement of the very thing we want. Resolving our anger in relationship with money is the key to be completely free of money issues.

To grow in business, we need to colloborate with others, and our money issues will show up if they are not healed. They can show up in asking for money from our clients, charging for our value as well as trusting to pay others for the services we receive from them. (We do need to hire people in order to have more time to work at what we are good at and expand our horizon.) Broken trust shows up everywhere until it is healed, transformed and dealt with, in business and in life.

After doing my own money work and seeing my life and business flourish beyond my imagination, or I should say aligned with my imagination :), I see my clients receive miraculous results after they do inner money work.

We need money to be totally free and have more choices in life. We really cannot express our love for humanity unless we have our own money issues resolved. I work with a lot of healers and when they first come to work with me, I see that the same wounds that caused them to become a healer also stop them from charging their worth. I understand their intention, I acknowledge they want to help. I also see the gift of sensitivity they have because of their wounds, only after they start to charge fairly for their life work, their true light returns. They see their value and the ripple effect of asking for their value and getting what they are worth creates a shift that is lasting and is truly gratifying and an abundant experience for me to witness.

Remember, we cannot give to others what we don’t have. If we want to give charity or make a difference for people around the world, writing a cheque helps. There are other means of giving too like giving of our time. However, even if we cannot physically go to Africa, we can still contribute by donating money.

Fear of Visibility

It was been a while since I have sent a newsletter. A lot has been happening in my business and life. I have missed writing and missed connecting with you as writing a newsletter has been one of my favourite ways to connect with you, and I have done it consistently since 2007. I have loved writing so much that I won email excellence award in 2009, so what stopped me from not writing consistently since the beginning of this year.

One would think with 30+ on and off line media interviews, I would have no fear of visibility, but it is interesting the defenses ego builds around itself to keep itself safe from shining. After a successful telesummit in September, instead of feeling excited about launching new programs and adding new platinum clients to my business, I felt as if I needed to create space to listen to something inside of myself.

And I know what that means for me is that I need to let the heart speak. After celebrating the success of my telesummit, as much as I wanted to jump ahead and launch things, my body and my soul knew that I needed to listen to the still-ness so that the new could emerge. I knew I needed to create the space to welcome this new phase in my life.

I have learnt from the previous experiences in my business that just before the growth in my business, whether it was during the time my message was evolving/changing in a big way, or whether it was when I needed to upgrade my clients from hourly to platinum style, the feeling of something changing was there. An inner knowing that there is more….but not knowing what.

I also know when I don’t pay attention to that feeling and act quickly without getting clear on the right next step, I am heading for a burnt out or making a hasty decision to soon, experiencing an unsuccessful launch or not a soul satisfying one. (This is not during times when someone is holding themselves back to take action due to the fear, the two feelings are different) This feeling is usually before or after the major growth and during the times when a major decision needs to be made internally or externally. I know this feeling too well having gone through many breakdowns before a breakthrough in my life and business.

I did what I would ask my clients to do during these times. Slow down….Yes, it isn’t always easy, but knowing when to slow down and when to move forward is a dance everyone needs to learn in their life and business.

As I slowed down, I realized and listened. I realized I was really afraid of being visible in this new way that was emerging. Despite of the huge on-line success, I HAVE BEEN HIDING. My inner dark side was keeping me safe doing the on-line stuff whereas my soul was yearning the feeling of community. Meeting people in-person, networking, speaking to grow my business were some of the things I was longing to do. The comfort and confident of on-line presence was turning into boredom (and it wasn’t about managing my energy, I frequently took mini retreats at cafe’s during my working days instead of working in my office)

What it was that I needed to grow and face my next level of visibility, and for me it was in-person contact with other women. And yes, I have a great social circle, but this time it was about sharing my message in-person, getting visible and vulnerable selling from the stage(asking for the money), claiming my value speaking in-person. Really really exposing myself and risking feeling rejected. It scared me.

With the new awareness also comes responsibility to follow through and comes along the fear. A new kind of fear. ‘What if I went out to speak and people didn’t like me as much as they like me on-line.’ ‘What if I went networking and people thought, ‘oh, she isn’t’ what I thought?’ Yes, I had those voices and that had stopped me from speaking and meeting people in-person and creating the community that I had been craving to create. Yes, I had taught workshops before, but it was different this time, after taking a break from speaking in-person to raise my son and building a big on-line presence, I had changed, so had my business and my media presence and my message. And now I was being asked to share this new self. The desire to hug people in-person, shifting their and my energy through making the energetic physical contact felt exhilarating as well as scary to me.

As I became aware what was holding me back and what was making me restless, I knew I could no longer do that. No matter how hard it was to put the on-line stuff on hold, I knew that I needed to do that to face my fear of visibility. Yes, it was no longer okay for me to feel safe.

So I decided to blossom. As most things happen after a breakdown of something old, when we welcome the soul whispering and let the old die, we welcome the new. But it starts with first making a decision.

Right after the awareness and me making a decision to speak, I was asked to speak at Vancouver Top Entrepreneurs, event. The audiences didn’t think I or my ideas were weird (as I thought they might think I was received well and sold a lot from the stage and since then I haven’t looked back.

For some of us, the awareness comes suddenly, and for others it is the slow dying of the old and re-birth of the new that brings us to our next path. With me, the restlessness was building gradually, until I became aware of what was missing.

I made a decision to slow down so that I could fasten up. While slowing down, I realized I had become comfortable with my on-line presence and I needed to step out of my comfort zone by speaking in-person to larger audiences.

Since then I am continuing to put myself in situations that I was afraid of before and surprisingly, I am really enjoying being out there, networking, speaking, etc. Infect, the way I see networking now has totally changed than the way I saw it before. It has a more spiritual and fun element to it.

Do You Tell The Truth

authenticityIn the last newsletter, I shared about my need to slow down and rest. I had also shared on social media that I was resting during the month of January and planned on returning to work when my natural rhythms return. However, my authentic sharing got me into a little trouble.

I was scheduled to speak at Vancouver’s Top Entrepreneurs Event on January the 25th. Another well-known coach contacted the event organizer and told them that I was struggling and needed to slow down so if they needed to replace a speaker, she would be happy to replace me, and would also help promote the event.

When the organizer (who is also a dear friend) asked me about the situation and about my authentic sharing on social media, I respectfully told them that if the promotion was needed for the event, it was okay with me if they went with the other speaker. I explained that my sharing was just being open about my challenges along with my successes and I was excited to speak.

The organizer being a professional as they are, honoured me and explained that being a professional and the event organizer, they needed to check in with their speakers and I completely understood. The event was house full and we rocked it.

What I would like to ask you my dear ones, do you prefer an expert who only shares the successes or the one who also shares the challenges of being in business and how to manage your energy around those challenges.

Being a feminine coach for women, I am a strong advocate of being vulnerable. To me, being vulnerable also means being strong. A flower blossoms with support and dies without enough water, air and sunshine. Feminine energy is very much like that. It flourishes with support and withers without support.

A coach for women who likes to operate from her feminine energy(feminine energy is open, receiving sharing) I believe in sharing the challenges and being vulnerable about my growth, and that was my intention in sharing the truth of where I was with you in my last newsletter as well as on the social media.

What Does Your Love Life Have to Do With Making More Money?

Did you know that money and love issues are connected for women? Being unaware of our money issues can keep abundance away from us. We, as women, are heart-centered, and if our heart isn’t happy, it is not only difficult to make money, but it is even harder to hang on to the money we make.

For our hearts to be happy, and in order to feel love for who we are and what we do, we need to start with ourselves; self-love, that is. We need to pay attention to when we first learnt what love is in the family we grew up in, and how this and the family’s issues can unconsciously affect our ability to receive wealth.

Here are a few tips on paying attention to the issues of money in the family:

Think about…

Who Was The Breadwinner In The Family?

What role did they play in your life? How did the women in the family feel about receiving wealth? How did the men feel about sharing wealth? Whose role did you admire?

When Did You Make The Decision To Be Financially Independent?

When did you decide to become a career woman? Was it a happy choice or was it made because someone decided not to support you? -an ex-husband, father, etc. What impact did it have on you?

How Were The Resources Distributed In The Family?

If the resources distributed in the family were not distributed fairly amongst siblings or other members of the family, it can affect the one who did not receive as much, as well as the one who ‘over received’. The ‘under receiver’ can often continue to be loyal to the family by still playing low- making less, or having a lower self esteem.  And the over achiever can create more- more money or show more confidence- at the expense of the under receiver, and then feeling guilty about this.

Although we cannot change our family, we can become aware of the role we played in our family when it came to the distribution of resources, including love and money, and change it now. Gender issues in the family can also affect the ability to receive and give money.

Pay attention to some of the above issues in your individual family. There will be more coming in future workshops in the summer about your family’s place in the larger economic world.  In the meantime, I would encourage you to consider the following questions before the workshops:

Have you now dealt with how you make and deal with money without being affected by past family issues?

Do you allow yourself to use the money you make for fun experiences, or do you feel burdened with a sense of overwhelming responsibility with your finances?

How Do You Let Your Money Energy ‘Leak’?

For heart-centered female entrepreneurs, our ability to make money, and how much we think we deserve to earn, is connected to our heart when we are in the business of changing lives. In fact, love and money issues are strongly connected for female heart-centered entrepreneurs (I will be covering this further in my private 4 hour personal retreat program Abundant Money Retreat opening up in April.

To create abundance of income in your heart-centered business, you must pay attention to your ‘money energy leaks’.

Here are a few common ways you may let your money energy ‘leak’:

1)  You give away your precious time and energy because you are afraid of saying ‘no.’ This occurs in business when you offer too much of your time for a very low price. Giving away your time for less than is deserved not only diminishes your own value, but it also diminishes that of your clients.  Consequently, no one is then able to claim the true limitless abundance that is available.

2)  You don’t set clear boundaries. When others don’t respect your boundaries, and you don’t take a stand for yourself, you let your money energy ‘leak’.  And this, in turn, makes you feel less valued and less respected.  This can lead you to be scared of shining larger; so instead, you settle for staying safe and small.

3)  Negative self-chatter is another way you zap yourself out of your precious time and energy. If someone doesn’t buy your product or services, you take rejection personally and beat yourself up over it, in your head, and your heart.  This prevents you from moving forward. Instead of patting yourself on the back for your accomplishments and getting help where you need to, you assume the rejection is a reflection of you as a person. This is not so. And it is important to recognize this.

You are in the business of changing lives and you need to pay attention to how you let your money energy ‘leak’.  When you devalue yourself, you keep yourself trapped and stifled. But when you are aware of how to avoid ‘money energy leaks’, and take the time to pursue your talents, you are free to achieve endless outcomes such as:

  • Writing your book
  • Launching a new product or program
  • Traveling
  • Making abundance of income 

Here are a few ways you can start to take care of your money energy ‘leaks’ right away:

1)   Write down how you would like to spend your time. What are the things you absolutely love to do in your business?  Who are the clients you love to work with?  Give away anything you don’t love to do, and let go of clients you don’t enjoy working with to make room for the new.

2)   Make a decision on what kind of lifestyle you would you like to enjoy. How much money do you need to create the lifestyle that honours who you are?  Don’t compromise your time. Charge what your time is worth to create the life you want.

3)   Make a list of all the results you have gotten from working with your previous clients. Carry that list with you, and whenever you need to get in touch with your value, refer back to that list.

Create Environments For Success

One of the fastest ways to reach your dreams is to change your environment. What are environments? There are many different kind of environments. Physical environment would constitute clearing your physical space. Cluttered space creates clutter thinking.

Spiritual Environment is how you feed your soul. Some people do it in nature, surrounding themselves with beauty and others do it through meditation and slowing down to listen to the whisper of their souls.

Environments are also the people we spend time with. We look at what we are working on in our lives and then surround ourselves with others who are creating the environments to reach similar goals and intentions. We then have them support us and we support them in order to create harmony and success for both involved.

A couple of examples … If better health is one of your goals, it would make sense to surround yourself with people who value health. Or, if growth and prosperity in your business is your focus, it would be smart to surround yourself with winners—people who are moving forward, inspiring each other and making a difference.

But before you make a decision to change your environment, you need to take certain steps to attract that new environment.

The first step is internal research. Ask yourself, What do I need? What kinds of changes do I need to make in my life?

Let’s assume again that one of your goals is to make more money in your business while at the same time making a difference. In that case, look for an environment that can support you in achieving that dream.

The second step is to develop those qualities in yourself that will attract, effortlessly, the environment you are looking for.

For example, to create an environment where you can ask for support, you must be willing to be vulnerable so that others can support you.

Ask yourself, If I put myself in that environment, am I ready to receive support? So many times I have noticed a pattern in women who come to my coaching practice and experience being vulnerable in a safe environment. They are able to take that energy and acceptance and begin creating those same authentic and honest relationships in their other world.

The third step, once you have created the inner qualities that allow you to attract and be in that environment, is to be willing to take a risk.

Yes, making new decisions, meeting new people, stepping up big in your life, are risky! They all require stepping out of your comfort zone. But if your desire is strong enough, you will do what it takes to leap forward toward your big life. When the pain of remaining small becomes too much, you will have no choice. The leap you take doesn’t have to be big and scary. It can be small, such as investing in a mastermind group or entering into a relationship with a coach who can support you in creating environments for success. And you don’t have to do any of it alone. With a support system in place, you can create new environments easily.

Keep this in mind: you are the average of five people you hang out with. Look at those people. Are they in the place you want to be? Or should you be looking for a new environment outside your current circle?

How to Create Abundance of Income in Your Heart Centered Business in 2011

 

In order to love what we do on a consistent basis in our heart centered business, we need to generate profit to help us move forward excitedly in our business. Making profit will not only help us share our message abundantly with the world, it will also help us claim the true value of our work. Here are 5 tips that have helped my client’s generate income and create huge success in their businesses.

1) You Are Your Number One Resource:
In order for you to share your brilliant message with the world, you need to take care of the most important resource in your business which is YOU! Taking care of you means making your needs a priority. It also means having boundaries on your time and precious energy. Serving the clients you love to work with as well as being with people who support your success is another way to take care of your number one resource, YOU.

2) Invest in Yourself
You also need to continue to grow as a person so in turn this will generate more profit. By investing in your personal growth, you invest in your number one resource to better serve your clients. Some of the ways to invest in yourself would include working with a business mentor or coach.

3) Delegate
To make big money, you cannot do it alone. You need to delegate tasks that are not the best use of your time and focus on direct money making activities. Your time needs to be spent on big goals, big projects and the technical and administration tasks need to be delegated.

4) Create Systems
You need to create systems to take advantage of technology so that you are not continuously working manually. You need to create systems for every aspect of your business so that you are not spending your valuable time doing one task over and over!

5) Taking Soul Whispered Internally Inspired Actions
Taking consistent, but right actions everyday is the key to generating huge profits. If you take one big action once a week and then don’t take any profit generating actions the rest of the week, you will lose momentum and not see the big results that come from taking small, but wise and internally inspired, soul whispered, action steps.
